Caring for your NAIIAD Jewellery
Sterling silver naturally tarnishes when exposed to air and light. To keep your jewellery looking beautiful and shiny, here are a few tips:
- Avoid contact with strong chemicals and domestic cleaning products, chlorine, cosmetics in particular perfume and hair spray.
- Avoid placing your jewellery directly in contact with a wooden surface as varnishing products often contain acids which accelerate tarnishing of sterling silver.
- When not worn, store your piece of jewellery in its packaging to delay tarnish
- Treat your jewellery with care, as you would with any piece of jewellery. The rings/components used to create your beautiful piece of jewellery can be delicate. Take care not to pull hard on your piece of jewellery
- Clean your silver jewellery regularly to remove tarnish, dirt, body creams and oils
- To clean your silver jewellery and keep it shiny, simply soak it for about 15-20 minutes in warm soapy water (you can use liquid dish soap). Gently massage the sterling silver in the soapy water between your fingers, then rinse it thoroughly. Dry it by pressing it gently in paper towel and let it air dry fully. You can also use a jeweller’s cloth which can be found in any precious jewellery shop.
- The gold plating (gold plated over Sterling silver) components have been coated with an invisible layer to protect and prolong the gold layer. Take care not to rub or scratch the surface as it will remove the protective coating and gold layer. The prolong the duration of the gold plating I recommend removing your jewellery for showers, baths, swimming and any activities such as sport, gardening, etc...
- Some gemstones are more than others sensitive to chemicals. Pearls in particular are quite delicate. It is best to avoid exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, perfume, cleaning products, etc...
- Wear your NAIIAD piece of jewellery often. It is the best way to enjoy your jewellery!
