Yin Yang
Solid / fluid
Strong / Soft
Masculine / Feminine
Two opposites combining in perfect harmony…
Yin Yang is a very strong piece of jewellery, a bold yet very elegant necklace. One of my signature pieces… It is a very intimate expression of my self and my life journey. A unique contemporary statement necklace which reflects the duality in all of us between masculine & feminine, strength and softness, the balance and complementarity between both…
The Yin Yang necklace is made entirely by hand with high quality silver and like the Torc necklace, which is another statement necklace in my collections, it has two distinct sections coming together as one. A fluid, textured section made of Sterling silver chainmaille which follows the contours of the neck, its many tiny rings reflect the light as it moves… The other section is made of one solid piece of silver, cut and shaped to contour the neck. It is given a smooth, satin finish and its shape may remind us of a stylised tree. A tree standing tall and proud and all that it symbolises: strength, power, life, resilience, reliability, protection… Masculinity.
When the roots are strong, they radiate powerful energy through the core of the tree, allowing it to grow tall, solid and proud… standing strong to the rough winds and adversity. Resilient… And this powerful tree is source of life – the chainmaille – which flows like a fluid energy following the contours of life, like a river follows its banks, never obstructed in its journey, always adapting and moving forward towards the beautiful unknown, confident and peaceful, knowing that this strong and powerful tree is always there, like an anchor of strength and protection, to watch over it and keep it safe…The fluid energy/water in turn comes back to quench the thirst of the roots, nourishing it so it can flourish and keep standing strong – Femininity…
The beautiful circle of nature and life. The perfect balance and complementarity between opposites. Strength and softness, solid and fluid, textured and smooth, male and female – Yin and Yang…
